Rick Plester is an international recording artist and record producer residing in Austin Texas.
To date Rick has produced, engineered, or played on 171 records, working with names such as, The Scorpions, James Kottak, Kottak Attack, Michael Schenker, George Lynch, Stevie Wonder, Etta James, Chaka Kahn, Elton John, Steely Dan, Janet Jackson, KD Lang, Anne Lennox, Sarah Mclachlan, Lindsey Buckingham, Bjork, Wasp, Chris Layton (Stevie Ray Vaughan), and Blaze Bayley, as well as producers Mike Fraser,
Max Norman, Julie Larson & Gary Sinclaire.
In 1992 Rick was the founding member of international recording act Black Symphony. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, they toured alongside great artists like Ronnie James Dio, Pantera, and Rammstein, releasing five albums between 1992 and 2007. In 2013, Rick formed the band "The Foundry" with members Blaze Bayley (Former Iron Maiden Vocalist), John Moyer (Disturbed bassist), James Kottak (Scorpions drummer), the late AJ Pero (Twisted Sister and Adrenalin Mob Drummer), and Bobby Jarzombek (Rob Halford, George Strait, Sebastian Bach, and Iced Earth drummer). Rick has also written music for ABC, NBC, ESPN, FOX, FOR SPORTS, and The NHL, and also won the LA Guitar Wars and several Canadian guitar wars contests.
Before Rick’s music career he was a professional hockey player, goaltending for several years in both in professional ice hockey and professional roller hockey. When the hockey and music careers began overlapping, Rick chose to follow the music path. However, from 2014-2018, between touring projects Rick made appearances with The Texas Stars, Chicago Wolves, San Antonio Rampage, and Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
Rick is now writing and recording a brand new record called "The Trees". This will be Rick’s first recording as a lead vocalist. Preparations are under way for a Fall 2022 release followed by extensive touring with an all-star band, featuring some of the most talented musicians in the industry.
